Three years, one garment at a time. From your first tote bag to your own coat — each year is a complete level, no obligation to take all three.

Pattern Making & Sewing at W.I.T. is a three-year hands-on journey. Each year is a complete level on its own — Junior, Mid, Senior — and together they build a maker: from the first stitch on the machine, to reading the body through basic pattern skeletons, to sewing full garments with your own hands. Every year can stand alone; you can enrol in one, combine years, or follow the full track.

year 01 · junior

the foundation

We start with the sewing machine: threading, tension, stitches and finishes, until the tool becomes an extension of your hand. Then we build the core pattern skeletons — bodice, skirt, sleeve, trouser — learning to read the body and translate it flat on paper. From there we manipulate the blocks with darts, seams, volume and silhouette, so the skeleton becomes your own idea. Finally we cut, sew and finish real projects — starting from a tote bag, building up to a full coat. Each project is a complete piece, from paper to garment. All materials and tools for the first year are included with enrolment: basic sewing kit, pattern paper, muslin and fabrics for the projects. No prior sewing or patternmaking experience is required.

structure & tailoring

Second year moves into advanced pattern techniques — the corset block and dart manipulation open the door to fitted, structured garments. We design and construct a shirt, a coat, a jacket and a bustier (corset), each one from pattern to finished piece. We also step into stretch fabrics with an introduction to jersey and knits — drafting and sewing leggings and a fitted top. A year about precision, fit and the confidence to build serious garments.

capsule collection

Third year is about mastery. We work on adaptations and transformations of patterns for demanding designs, and construct high-quality, complex garments with professional finishes. The year closes with a complete capsule collection — using specialised materials and professional techniques — the kind of body of work that starts to look like a signature.
