Vasiliki (Bee) Tranouli
founder & teacher
She studied Art History at the University of Ioannina, then fashion at a private school in Athens — where she gained her first foundational knowledge, which she developed through many hours of personal study and work. In her second year she won a national design competition and went to Canada on a scholarship for a seminar. When she returned, the school itself suggested she teach as an assistant professor. It was still that second year, searching for her own design character, when she wished for something simple: to do only one thing — to design. It was the only thing that balanced her. She then worked in clothing production, in styling, and taught design and styling at another free studies workshop.
"When I'm teaching" — W.I.T. — was originally a hashtag, in an Instagram story, while she was teaching. The idea had been growing inside her before that, still nameless. The lockdown gave her the room to let it bloom. When it ended, she knew what she needed: a space of her own, to exist and breathe in — not something to share left and right. After founding the studio, she took part in the fashion TV competition MyStyleRocks, reaching the final with many weekly first-place wins. She also collaborated as an illustrator with Lifelikes and M&S — collaborations that had not happened before in a Greek context.
in her own words
I love experiential expression in fashion, and the psychology behind every choice, behind every garment — the lived experience of each person is what makes them unique, and that is what I ask for, what I distinguish. I like harmony, whatever comes with it. I declare myself a maximalist.
I live in the Athens I dreamed of as a child — because I love choices, freedom. I am addicted to my cats, and to cats in general. My fetish: mix print, everywhere and always.
None of us is ready yet — and that is the part I like the most. We are all masterpieces in progress. And what matters is the journey.
Enjoy.
